Our History

Keyera was founded in 1998 when Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. contributed the majority of its facilities to a 50:50 partnership with KeySpan Corporation. The partnership, Gulf Midstream Services, included several of Alberta’s large gas plants capable of processing sweet and sour natural gas plus related natural gas and NGL infrastructure. In 2000, KeySpan Corporation bought Gulf’s remaining 50 per cent interest in Gulf Midstream Services and the name was changed to KeySpan Energy Canada.  In 2003, we became a publicly listed income trust, and began trading on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the name of KeySpan Facilities Income Fund (TSX:KEY.UN). Keyera expanded significantly in 2004 with the acquisition of Enerpro Midstream Company from Chevron Canada Resources.  This acquisition greatly enhanced our presence in Western Canada.  In December 2004, KeySpan Corporation divested its remaining interest in the business and KeySpan Facilities Income Fund became 100 per cent publicly owned.  In February 2005, we changed our name to Keyera Facilities Income Fund to recognize this new independence and sum up its business in a single phrase: Key facilities for a new Era.
